  • Building Out A Retail Space – Taking A Bland Storefront and Making It Your Own

    Posted in:

You have decided to pursue your dream of starting your own business, and you have even rented your storefront.  Now what?  It is time for that store front to reflect your business.  It may be hard to picture it with an empty storefront in front of you, but with the help of an experienced contractor you can make entering your business an experience for customers.  Not sure where to start?  Here are a few tips for building out a retail space.

Your Storefront Should Reflect Your Business

Is your business a formal office or fine dining experience, or are you a fun novelty store or restaurant?  Your storefront should reflect the style of your business.  If you aren’t sure where to start, consider your logo or business card design.  The colors and fonts used could reflect the colors you choose for your business.  Maybe your business has a theme?  If this is the case, your store front should reflect this.

    Use Durable Materials

Chances are that you are hoping that your storefront gets a lot of traffic.  If this is the case, you want to make sure that your walls, counters, and furniture can stand up against this heavy traffic.  Use durable materials that can take a beating and still look great.

    Consider Appropriate Storage

Chances are that you need to store merchandise, perishables, or supplies somewhere in your storefront.  If your storefront doesn’t automatically come with the appropriate storage for your business, consider building in a storage area towards the back of your store.  After all, your customers shouldn’t see your fresh merchandise lying all over the place.  It is important to keep your business organized and clean.

    Build In Private Spaces

Some storefronts come completely empty, assuming that you will customize as needed.  If you have a blank space to work with, consider creating a few private spaces towards the back of the store.  This can include a manager’s office and maybe even an employee break room.  These spaces will create a safe zone for your employees, and will give you space for meetings, interviews, and more.

Be Considerate Of Your Employees And Customers

You have an opportunity to create a great space that your employees and customers will enjoy.  With the help of a contractor you can create a unique spaces that is durable and comfortable alike.  If you are building out a retail space in South Jersey or the Philadelphia area, American Custom Construction can help you with your project.  We have the experience to get the job done right.  Call us today for more information.
